Thank you to everyone who braved the cold to join us at our (sold-out!) Gilbert & Sullivan Singalong Event!
Special thanks to our fabulous Music Director (and Board Director) Tierra Whetstone, our marvelous Collaborative Pianist Jacob Adams, our wonderful singers, our stalwart Lord High Substitutes, and last but certainly not least, the good folks at Borelli's Pizza who so kindly hosted us!
Due to the overwhelming success of our first Singalong event, we hope to hold another G&S Singalong in late spring 2025 - watch our mailing list, social media, and this site for updates!

What to Expect
Pour the pirate sherry and join us in the cozy dining room of Borelli’s Pizza to sing along with the timeless words and music of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most famous and beloved comic opera, The Pirates of Penzance!
Within the Gilbert & Sullivan fandom, there is a long tradition of unrehearsed, group “sing-outs” or “singalongs” (sometimes called QWERTYs) of works in the canon. To our knowledge, there has not been an open G&S singalong event in the Chicago area in numerous years, and GLO hopes that this one will be one of many future such events! Please join us in making this one a success! Your ticket purchase will help support GLO in our crucial, inaugural season!
- The Singalong will be accompanied by a live pianist and will include all the music (except the overture) and all the dialogue!
- All attendees are welcome to sing along with the chorus sections (sing any voice part you want / you already know)!
- Bring your own copy of the vocal score or your mobile device (to access the free digital score available online). Click here for a link to a digital version of the score. Plus, QR codes for this digital version will be posted at the venue.
- Just want to eat and listen? Great! There's no requirement to sing...but you might not be able to stop yourself!
- If you're interested in singing a role, a sign-up form is open until December 9th. (If you apply but are not selected for a role this time, we hope you will still join us to sing in the chorus, and fear not: we intend this will be one of many future, regular G&S Singalongs!)
- While we expect you to eat, drink (and be merry!) during the singing, please respect those who are singing by keeping voices (and devices) quiet during the singing and dialogue. We'll take a break between Acts I & II.
- We are grateful to Borelli's Pizza for allowing us to hold this event in their space. Please support them - and enjoy delicious food! - by purchasing at least one food or beverage item during this event in addition to your ticket.
- Tickets will be available in advance and at the door (if still available). There is a lot of interest in this event; get your tickets early as there is limited seating!

- Dress is casual, but pirate hats & accessories are encouraged!
