Thanks to the sold-out success of our first Gilbert & Sullivan Singalong Event, The Pirates of Penzance, we are pleased to announce another Singalong as a bonus addition to our 2024-2025 Season!
This time, we'll be singing through the one-act Trial by Jury, followed by H.M.S. Pinafore, the shortest full-length show in the canon.
We are grateful to marvelous Maestra Tierra Whetstone and wonderful Collaborative Pianist Jacob Adams who are returning to lead us in song once again! We also thank the good folks at Borelli's Pizza who will again be hosting the event.

What to Expect
Great Lake Operetta’s 2nd Gilbert & Sullivan Fundraising Singalong ~ Trial by Jury & H.M.S. Pinafore!
For today in this arena, be summoned by a stern subpoena to sail the ocean blue in a Gilbert & Sullivan double-header! Join us in the cozy dining room of Borelli’s Pizza to sing along with the timeless words and music of two Gilbert & Sullivan pieces: the one-act Trial by Jury followed by the shortest two-act show in the canon, H.M.S. Pinafore.
Within the Gilbert & Sullivan fandom, there is a long tradition of unrehearsed, group “sing-outs” or “singalongs” (sometimes called QWERTYs) of works in the canon. Please join us in our second of what we hope will be many semi-regular G&S Singalongs! See below for all the details:
- The Singalong will be accompanied by a live pianist and will include all the music (except the overture) and all the dialogue!
- All attendees are welcome to sing along with the chorus sections (sing any voice part you want / you already know), led by our marvelous music director.
- Bring your own copy of the vocal score or your mobile device (to access the free digital score available online). See above for a link to a digital version of the score. Plus, QR codes for this digital version will be posted at the venue.
- Just want to eat and listen? Great! There's no requirement to sing...but you might not be able to stop yourself!
- If you're interested in singing a role, see above for sign-up forms. (If you apply but are not selected for a role this time, we hope you will still join us to sing in the chorus, and fear not: we intend this will be one of many future, regular G&S Singalongs!)
- While we expect you to eat, drink (and be merry!) during the singing, please respect those who are singing by keeping voices (and devices) quiet during the singing and dialogue. We'll take a break between Trial by Jury and Pinafore, and again between Acts I & II of Pinafore.
- We are grateful to Borelli's Pizza for allowing us to hold this event in their space. Please support them - and enjoy delicious food! - by purchasing at least one food or beverage item during this event in addition to your ticket.
- Tickets will be available in advance and at the door (if still available). There is a lot of interest in this event; get your tickets early as there is limited seating!

- Dress is casual, but show-related costume pieces (hats, etc.) are encouraged!
